A student initiated one-credit course was available in 2012 to introduce students to different disabilities A hallmark of the class was presentations by knowledgeable individuals from Stanford and the surrounding community who have firsthand experience working with individuals with disabilities. Research and internship opportunities are available for undergraduate and medical students. Interested students should contact directly the faculty member who they would like to serve as supervisor or mentor.
Pediatric Residency Rotation
The one-month required rotation for pediatric residents focuses on the development of typically developing children, identification of children at risk, and comprehensive care for children with developmental disorders. Fellowship in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics
A new Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) training program for Northern California located at Stanford University and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford was launched July 1, 2008. The program emphasizes preparation of fellows for leadership roles in (1) family-centered, culturally competent clinical care; (2) clinical research to translate scientific discoveries into effective clinical practices and (3) community partnerships to transform existing health and community services into effective and integrated systems of care.
