Faculty Testimonials

Stanford is the perfect package for me. You can really elevate your own research and aspirations just by walking down the hall and getting inspiration from someone else. I always wanted to be in an environment where I’m constantly learning – I never wanted to be the smartest person in the room. Stanford offers opportunities to continue your education in different areas. I wanted to know more about clinical epidemiology, biostatistics, designing my own studies – Stanford has those courses. The other thing that’s kept me here is the work-life balance. I feel comfortable dedicating time to my family, my mental health, my physical health. Being in a place where that balance is so important to everybody, it makes a huge difference.

For a junior physician-scientist, I cannot imagine a better place to be! Stanford is THE perfect environment to thrive and become the best version of yourself. On the clinical side, our neonatology care team pushes the limits of medicine every day. Our exceptional teamwork enables us to provide the best possible care to newborns and families facing extremely complex medical challenges. On the research side, there is a strong culture of mid-level and senior faculty nurturing, mentoring, sponsoring and collaborating with junior faculty. Stanford’s internal research funding opportunities focused on junior faculty and high-risk ideas as well as dedicated grant writing experts who offer personalized support are both truly priceless and unique.

Staff Testimonials

Working in the Division of Neonatal and Developmental Medicine has been very rewarding to me, not only professionally, but also personally. Under the amazing mentorship and unwavering support from Dr. David K. Stevenson, I have been given a unique opportunity to continually grow as a research scientist and also an independent investigator. David has encouraged my pursuit of new and exciting discoveries in the laboratory. Personally, I have been able to forge long-lasting relationships and unforgettable friendships with my immediate co-workers, Division and Department staff, collaborators, and trainees. I highly recommend working in this incredible nurturing environment!

It’s an honor to be part of a small team with such a big impact in the lives of moms and babies. I get to advocate for CAPE and show people how simulation-based training and debriefing are fundamental to improving patient outcomes and team performance. I feel like I belong here. Every day I walk into CAPE, I just have a sense of appreciation. I take a deep breath – this is where I work. I work at one of the best health care institutions in the world. Even though I’m not doing direct patient care, I still feel like a valued part of this team.

It’s an honor to support the leaders in the Division of Neonatal and Developmental Medicine. Although I’m not directly involved in direct patient care, I support physicians who care for some of the sickest babies by managing administrative and operational tasks, allowing them to focus on our babies and families and groundbreaking research. Working alongside brilliant, compassionate colleagues has helped me grow both professionally and personally. Knowing that my contributions help the team make a real difference in the lives of babies and families is incredibly fulfilling and makes me proud to be part of this division.
