Dr. Gary Shaw Appointed to Rosemary Hess Professorship

Congratulations to Dr. Gary Shaw on being appointed to the Rosemarie Hess Professorship! 40th Annual NICU & ICN Graduation Party

This September, nearly 800 people attended the Stanford Medicine Children’s Health’s 40th Annual NICU & ICN Graduation Party. The celebration reunites families with our doctors and nurses who cared for them. Seeing our patients out in the world growing and thriving inspires us in our work every day.


Philip Sunshine, 94, Dies; Pioneer in Treatment of Premature Babies

A founder of neonatology, he helped revolutionize the care of preterm and critically ill newborns. “We were able to keep babies alive that would not have survived,” he said.

MCCPOP Perinatal Potpourri Conference 2026: April 16-17

For over forty years, the Annual MCCPOP Perinatal Potpourri Conference has provided current advances in maternal, fetal, and neonatal medicine for healthcare professionals around the world. This year’s conference holds special significance as it aligns with the 10-year anniversary of Black Maternal Health Week, a patient advocate-led event spotlighting and reinforcing the need for sustainable solutions to ensure Black women and birthing people receive high-quality, respectful healthcare from preconception through postpartum.

Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia Research Symposium 2026

Now in its third year, the Stanford Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD) Research Symposium will bring together a distinguished group of international experts from a variety of medical fields, including neonatology, pediatric pulmonology, pediatric cardiology, and other related specialties, to share the most recent advancements and cutting-edge discoveries in the understanding and treatment of BPD.

In September 2025 we launched the first season of NeoNarratives, a podcast about the Stanford Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship experience.
