Two campaigns, one mission – to create a brighter future for the most vulnerable among us.

Honoring Phil Sunshine

Dr. Phil Sunshine – the founding father of our Division of Neonatal and Developmental Medicine – lived an extraordinary life, revolutionizing the care of preterm and critically ill babies. Dr. Sunshine passed away in April 2025 at the age of 94 and his family established this fund to continue his legacy. Your gift made in honor of Dr. Sunshine will support neonatology programs at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health, as designated by his family.

Support Neonatology Research

Your gift to the Division of Neonatal and Developmental Medicine research fund will support discoveries and innovations that increase our ability to promote health and fight disease in critically ill newborns. Our bench-to-bedside research supports the translation of scientific discoveries into clinical care and improves outcomes for families and babies.

"After experiencing the heartbreak of preterm birth loss, our son's arrival at 24 weeks was filled with fear – but also hope, thanks to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. The care he received was extraordinary, grounded in research that gave him a fighting chance. We support prematurity research so that more families can find hope, healing, and a healthy future."
